Capital of Tasmania, Hobart, is a small human-sized and charming town! It hosts, among others, the famous MONA, a museum of contemporary art recognised worldwide and with an extravagant architecture. Fun fact: 6 months of the year, you will be able to observe Tim Steiner, a man renting himself to the museum so that visitors can enjoy his fully tattooed back.
There are many things to do in Hobart, such as visiting the popular Salamanca market on weekends, tasting local specialities in North Hobart or having a drink in one of Australia’s oldest breweries on your way back from your climb up Mount Wellington!
Are you a nature lover? Then Tasmania is a very good choice! Nicknamed the island of beauty, this state located in the south-east of Australia is a true haven of peace where nature is preserved. A third of Tasmania is indeed composed of national parks, areas classified as UNESCO World Heritage Sites or reserves.
Tasmania abounds in beautiful places, each one more beautiful than the other and easily accessible from Hobart! Strolling through the (stunning) lavender fields of the Bridestowe Lavender Estate, hiking through the virgin forests of Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park or discovering Australia’s largest craft fair in Launceston (in November every year), are just some of the activities you can do on the weekends if Hobart is the destination of your choice.
